In the Bleak Mid-winter

In the bleak mid-winter
Frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron,
Water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow,
Snow on snow,
In the bleak mid-winter
Long ago.

 English poet Christina Rossetti
 written sometime prior to 1872

Dye-painted silk crepe de chine appliqued on linen, about 12" x 12", ready for decorative stitch

Not so bleak, maybe
